That's right, this site is now running on a plug computer:
The best way to compare the old pc that used to be serving this site to the new setup based on SheevaPlug is of course placing the new system on top of the old one:
Let's look a bit closer:
The system consists of a SheevaPlug by Marvell bought on e-bay from UK-based New IT and a 500G Passport Essentials portable USB disk by WesternDigital. I had to throw away the silly UK plug and power cord and replace the little EU plug with an electric cord from an old VCR so the SheevaPlug isn't using 3 sockets instead of one. The ultra portable disk is used because it uses less power than the bigger versions and of course because it's smaller.
The SheevaPlug is running a Debian Lenny flavour of Linux (thanks to this guy). The web pages are served by Lighty web server running PHP in fastCGI mode supported by mysql database. As in the old PC setup, the site is using Drupal content management system with an embedded Gallery2.
The result is a cheap and virtually noiseless system with very low power consumption that takes almost no space at all.

Works great
I must admit I'm a little bit surprised how well this thing actually works.
